Wilcox County Goes Blue for National Adoption Month

On November 7, 2013, Wilcox County Department of Human Resources Service Unit will partner with Wilcox County Juvenile Judge Jo Celeste Pettway and the Wilcox County Children's Policy Council hosting a seminar on “Teen Suicide and Bullying” for community partners (court, law enforcement, education, mental health, pastors/churches, parents and potential foster/adoptive parents) with presenter, Mr. Brent Cosby, M.S. of Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center, Dothan, Alabama to educate the community on these high rising issues. Adoption Literature and Applications will be available during this event in our ongoing efforts to recruit potential new Foster/Adoptive parents. "Royal Blue Ribbons" will be pinned on those in attendance and the DHR staff attire will include the "Royal Blue Tops" in recognition of National Adoption Month.

Further, events for the month will include, on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, the National Adoption Month Proclamation signed by the Mayor of the City of Camden will run in the local newspaper along with an article on Foster/Adoptive Parent Application Process and DHR contacts. DHR staff and other organization will be provided “Royal Blue Ribbons and encouraged to wear the "Royal Blue Color with the Royal Blue Pin on this date
