FOSTER CARE ADOPTIONS FINALIZE ON NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY EVENT Charlotte, NC- On Saturday, November 19 at 9:00 a.m., adoptions for at least 25 children from four different agencies (Another Choice for Black Children, Children's Home Society, Christian Adoption, and Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services) all currently in Mecklenburg County’s foster care system will be finalized during a special session of court at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. The adoptions will be followed by a reception to celebrate the new families.
The event, part of National Adoption Day, is free and open to the public. For the seventh year in a row, Mecklenburg County Juvenile Court, the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court’s Office, the Mecklenburg County (DSS), and the Guardian Ad Litem program are co-sponsoring this event. The court session will be presided over by Chief District Court Judge Lisa C. Bell and is part of a larger event taking place at the courthouse that includes games and activities for children. Representatives from various adoption agencies will also be on hand to answer questions regarding adoption.
