Rhode Island Family Court will celebrate our 9th Annual National Adoption Day on November 17, 2012. Our event will coincide with events being planned across the United States on this day to draw attention to the adoption process and the large number of children available for adoption. This years theme song in "HOME" by Philip Philips.

Our event begins at 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon on November 17th at the Garrahy Judicial Complex, 5th Floor, Providence, RI, with a brief speaking program. This year’s special guest speakers are a couple who will be finalizing the adoptions of their 3 children on National Adoption day (twin boys and their sister!) We will then move into the court room where we expect to finalize 20-25 adoptions with about 250 family, friends and volunteers in attendance. We will be celebrating all families that adopt and encourage other families to consider adopting children or becoming foster parents.

We have many community agencies involved and local restaurants, stores, photographers, etc. donate to this event. Dunkin Brands donates breakfast; area restaurants donate lunch; balloon man and area sports mascots entertain the children. Each child receives a gift bag full of a toy donated by HASBRO, area gift cards, a frame with a gift certificate for an 8”X10” portrait of their “new” family, etc.
