Please join us at the State Capitol and be a voice for the voiceless as we present the “National Adoption Awareness Day: Calling Out of Names” of the children and youth in foster care who are waiting for families.
Today in California over 50,000 children and youth live in foster care. Over 10,000 are waiting for families. On this day, legislators, community and business leaders, adoptive parents and child advocates participate in a special 4-hour vigil from 11 am to 3 pm, by reading the first names and ages of California children awaiting adoption. The “Calling Out of Names” will be a powerful and moving reminder of the need there is for families and always results in people stepping forward to adopt.
This event is hosted by EMQ FamiliesFirst, Lilliput Children’s Services, Sierra Forever Families and the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services.
