Jessie is an adoptee and author of Detached: Surviving Reactive Attachment Disorder, which tells of his firsthand experience being abused as a child, adopted, and growing up with Reactive Attachment Disorder. He will share his experience with the audience while also giving tips and suggestions to help those struggling with this issue.

Trumbull County Children Services in collaboration with Trumbull County Probate Court will be celebrating National Adoption Day and Adoption Day in Trumbull County, Ohio on November 14, 2013 at the Trumbull County Court house in Warren, Ohio. Three families will Finalize Adoptions in Celebration of the Event. The public is invited to attend. A brunch will follow at the Courthouse, a visit by Minnie Mouse with the children in attendance as well as facepainting. The Event will conclude with a balloon launch outside the Courthouse with each balloon representing another child across the State still awaiting an Adoptive Home.
Shoulder to Shoulder Conference

Join us for the 15th annual Shoulder to Shoulder conference designed to help parents (foster, adoptive, & birth) stand “shoulder to shoulder” with Child Welfare and other helping professionals to address the needs of children in need of permanency. National and local content experts will be speaking on issues related to parenting, adoption, permanency, and helping children and youth who come from hard places.

Butler County is participating in its 6th National Adoption Day event! Butler County will celebrate each adoption with balloon artist, arts and crafts with the children, juice and snacks, gifts for every child and parent, photographs by a professional photographer, and other surprises. The Honorable Judge Kelly Streib will be presiding over all of the adoptions.

Adoption Celebration at Belmont Arena

Adoption Movie Night in Lititz, PA

The Adoption Coalition of Lancaster County (ACLC) is sponsoring a free Movie Night at Penn Cinema on Thursday, November 7, beginning at 6 p.m. Held in conjunction with National Adoption Awareness Month, the event aims to help raise awareness of the need for foster and adoptive families. Attendees can view one of two adoption-themed movies—Annie or Despicable Me. The event is open to the public and registration is not required. The King’s Strings, a string ensemble comprised of John & Cindy King, of Mechanicsburg, and their seven children (two of whom are adopted) will perform in the lobby, beginning at 5:30 p.m., prior to the movie showings at 6:30. According to their website (www.thekingsstrings.com), the group has been described as “the von Trapp family with instruments.” They play a variety of music from classical to folk, worship to Broadway, fiddle and beyond. Annie is the classic musical of an orphan girl who is adopted by the wealthy Daddy Warbucks. Despicable Me is a 2010 computer-animated comedy featuring supervillain Felonious Gru (voice by Steve Carell) and the three little girls he adopts and falls in love with. A WJTL radio personality will remote broadcast from the event. Penn Cinema has provided free promotion. Vouchers for free popcorn for each family will be available at the ACLC informational table. Tickets are available while supplies last, with Despicable Me showing in two theaters and Annie in one. The Adoption Coalition of Lancaster County is a group of agencies affiliated with the Statewide Adoption & Permanency Network (SWAN), who share the goal of finding permanent adoptive homes for children in the state foster care system. Each member agency and the Pennsylvania Adoption Exchange will have staff available to provide information about foster care and adoption before and during the movies. Adoption Movie Night in Phoenixville, PA

On the evening of Tuesday, November 12, at 6:30 pm, families from the general community will be invited to attend a free awareness event and learn more information about the need for adoptive homes for older children at the Colonial Theater, 227 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA. This event will include a 30 minute presentation of film clips of successful adoption stories for older children as well as a presentation of a short video documentary of the Older Child Matching Initiative to find homes for teenagers.

This will be our 4th annual Adoption Day event to honor the children who have been adopted this year as well as the children who will be adopted the day of the event. We have fun games and activites for children and families at the court house from 10 AM until 11 AM. From 11 AM until 12 PM we have several guest speakers. From 12 PM until 1 PM we have a luncheon and from 1 PM on we will be having adoptions.
Chester County National Adoption Day

The morning will start with a welcoming ceremony followed by six adoption finalizations and then a reception.
