Thousands of forever families created or expanded on National Adoption Day
Nearly 4,800 children in foster care found their forever families Saturday during the 12th annual National Adoption Day celebration in about 400 cities across the United States. Thanks to the efforts of adoption advocates, policymakers, judges and lawyers, nearly 40,000 children have been adopted from foster care on National Adoption Day since 2000.

Save the Date: National Adoption Day Set for November 19
National Adoption Day 2011 will be held on Saturday, November 19. Celebrated across the United States, more than 350 community events are held each year to finalize the adoptions of children in foster care and celebrate adoptive families. Among those joining the National Adoption Day celebration is White Collar actor Willie Garson, who adopted his now 10-year-old son, Nathen, from Los Angeles County foster care in 2010. Garson also will serve as the national spokesperson for National Adoption Day 2011.
