National Adoption Day news for planners and partners
National Adoption Day 2013
Can you believe it? National Adoption Day is this Saturday! We are very excited that more than 4,500 children in foster care will finally celebrate their “one day” and find their forever families.
New infographic about foster care adoption
Did you know there are more than 100,000 children in U.S. foster care available for adoption? Share this infographic with your friends and family via Facebook,Twitter or Pinterest to encourage them to get involved. All children deserve a loving and safe forever family. It’s our responsibility to make sure they have one.
Share your event results
We’d love to know the results of your event! Please remember to update your event registration with the number of children adopted. If you have high resolution photos from your event, along with a release form from the family, please share with us for consideration to be featured on the National Adoption Day website. Send photos and release forms to Yvonne Pentz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Leverage the voices of your community
It’s not too late to submit a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to share the importance of National Adoption Day, along with details about your community’s celebration. By doing so, you will help raise awareness about children in foster care and will multiply the efforts of other cities across the country to build support and momentum for National Adoption Day. A template letter-to-editor is in the event organizers toolkit. Please submit your letter to the editor to your local newspaper no later than Wednesday, November 20.
One Day Project
On just one day, you can make a difference…you can help a child find a home. The National Adoption Day Coalition created the One Day Project to share with the thousands of waiting children and families what this “one day” feels like. Do you have a story to share? Click here to submit your own video or text story to give hope to waiting children and encourage others to adopt.
