National Adoption Day news for planners and partners

As November quickly approaches, we’re getting excited about National Adoption Day. Observed annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, National Adoption Day will be celebrated across the nation on November 17, 2012. Thank you for your dedication and hard work to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families. Your combined efforts have made the dreams of thousands of children come true each year.

Redesigned website and event registration

We’re proud to unveil our new redesigned website! A fresh, user-friendly design and improved navigation enhance the visitor experience by providing helpful National Adoption Day information, and resources for planning local events. Click on “Event organizers” in the main navigation to find a wide range of tools and resources to help you create a successful event. Click here to take a look.

Never created an account? Click on “Create an account” at the top of any page. Events registered by November 9 will receive complimentary National Adoption Day balloons.

Teddy bears and branded merchandise

Once again, Fiesta Toy® is offering discounted teddy bears for children adopted on National Adoption Day. The cost is $2.75 per bear plus a $0.25 shipping charge (minimum order of 24 bears). Orders must be placed by November 5. Before you order, please have the most current number of children being adopted at your event. After you register your event, the teddy bear order form will be available to download. National Adoption Day branded merchandise is also available. Please use discount code NAD2012 through October 15 on your order.

One Day Project

On just one day, you can make a difference…you can help a child find a home. The National Adoption Day Coalition created the One Day Project to share with the thousands of waiting children and families what this “one day” feels like.

I Don’t Have Your Eyes book from EMK Press

EMK Press will donate a total of 500 copies of the book I Don't Have Your Eyes, by Carrie A. Kitze, to families who are finalizing an adoption of children age 6 and younger from foster care on National Adoption Day, anywhere in the United States. Copies will be sent in advance of the National Adoption Day event in your state to the placing agencies to give out at finalization. To qualify, please send an email to with contact information for the case worker/placing agency, shipping information, number of adoptions being finalized (maximum of five books per address for children age 6 and younger) and the date of finalization. If you include first names, the books will be autographed for the specific children who are being adopted. Please contact with any questions.
