The National Adoption Day Coalition is pleased to announce Nia Vardalos, the Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated My Big Fat Greek Wedding writer and actress, as its 2010 National Adoption Day spokesperson.
LOS ANGELES – National Adoption Day 2010 will be held on Saturday, November 20. Celebrated across the United States, more than 350 community events are held each year to finalize the adoptions of children in foster care and celebrate adoptive families.
In all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam, the widespread cause will include events ranging from courtroom adoptions to local celebrations.
More than 4,500 children adopted from foster care this year celebrated finding their forever families during the 10th Annual National Adoption Day on November 21. After a decade, the number of children in foster care adopted on National Adoption Day totals nearly 30,000. Los Angeles hosted a celebration with Actress Nia Vardalos.
Thousands of children in need of loving homes are having their wishes come true. It's all thanks to National Adoption Day and the efforts of many, including one celebrity, all coming together to make it happen.
U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will host a special National Adoption Day event in Washington D.C. Friday to celebrate the adoption of 25,000-plus children from foster care over the last 10 years.
National Adoption Day 2009 will be Saturday, November 21. Celebrated across the United States, more than 350 community events are held each year to finalize the adoptions of children in foster care and celebrate all families who adopt.
