The One Day Project

In the United States, more than 107,000 children in foster care are waiting for permanent, loving families. On just one day, you can make a difference…you can help a child find a home.

Since 2000, nearly 40,000 foster care children have had their adoptions finalized on National Adoption Day. The combined efforts of families, adoption advocates, policymakers, judges and volunteers have made the dreams of finding homes come true for these waiting children. This dream can come true on any one day throughout the year.

The One Day Project was created by the National Adoption Day Coalition to share with the thousands of waiting children what this one day is like, and what it means to find their forever family. It also encourages people to consider adoption from foster care.

Watch this video as White Collar actor Willie Garson, Presiding Judge for the Los Angeles Juvenile Court Judge Michael Nash, and others share what this one day means to them. Please consider submitting your own video or text story to give hope to the waiting children and encourage others to adopt. Submit your own story.
