Save the date: National Adoption Day is November 22, 2014
Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, families, judges and child advocates join together to do something great – create forever families. National Adoption Day is a collective effort to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children waiting in foster care. This one day offers communities across the country the opportunity to finalize adoptions and honor adoptive families. This year it will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22.
The National Adoption Day Coalition expects more than 4,500 children to be adopted at more than 400 events across the nation this year. With the amazing efforts of adoption advocates, parents, policymakers, judges and lawyers, nearly 50,000 children have been adopted from foster care on National Adoption Day during the last 15 years!
A coalition of national partners – Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, Children’s Action Network and The Alliance for Children’s Rights – sponsor National Adoption Day to draw special attention to children in foster care waiting for permanent families and to celebrate all families that adopt.
