On Saturday, Nov. 19, judicial officers from the Superior Court of Los Angeles County will join pro bono attorneys from the Alliance for Children’s Rights and Public Counsel, along with officials of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, to complete adoptions in person for 136 children in foster care/98 families as part of our 23rd annual National Adoption Day celebration.
The day will begin at 8:15 a.m. with a virtual program/news conference streaming online via YouTube https://youtu.be/Yi1r4cgGcRA, followed by in person and some virtual adoption hearings beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 1:00 p.m. The virtual program includes welcoming remarks from Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court Akemi Arakaki, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, DCFS Director Brandon T. Nichols, Alliance for Children’s Rights President/CEO Jen Braun, Public Counsel President/CEO Monica Ramirez Almadani, and Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Ambassador Amy Chang.
All the children adopted on this day will go home with teddy bears through Comfort for Court Kids; and all the adoptive families will receive gift cards through the generous donation of the Rotary Club of Los Angeles.
